Un père, une mère, six enfants. Avocat réputé, ténor du barreau de Beyrouth, le père plaide avec une rare éloquence. Dans l'exercice de sa profession, la parole est d'or. Son travail est sa vie. Il est craint, suit une discipline… militaire, impose la gymnastique à ses enfants, les punit sévèrement lorsqu'ils transgressent les règles. Pourtant, derrière cette rigueur se cache un homme affectueux, pétri d'humour, curieux de tout, à l'optimisme contagieux. Soudain, c'est le drame : le ténor est victime d'une attaque cardiaque. Il se retrouve sur une chaise roulante, privé de la parole qui a fait sa célébrité. Mais l'amour de sa famille et l'espoir vont l'aider à surmonter l'épreuve...
