Set up Direct to Player on the Victor Stratus12 M

There are two methods to connect the Stratus12 M to your CELA library account and access your bookshelf.

One using an SD card with configuration files saved to it, and one using the Victor Stratus12 M only, described below.

Connect the player to Wi-Fi

If your player is already connected to Wi-Fi, you can skip to adding Direct to Player bookshelf.

  1. Turn the player on. You should hear the usual welcome message spoken.
  2. Press the number 7 key on the keypad until you hear the player say, “Wireless: Airplane mode off.” This may require you to press the button more than once. If you hear “Airplane mode on” instead of off, press the 6 key to toggle it off and the pound key (#) to confirm.
  3. Then press the number 8 key on the keypad until you hear the player say, “Scan for available connections.” Press the pound key to select this option.
  4. The player will begin to announce a list of available Wi-Fi connections. Press the 2 or 8 keys respectively, until you hear the name of the network that you want to connect to.
  5. When you hear the name of the network you want to connect to, press the pound key. You will then be prompted to enter the password for the Wi-Fi connection that you chose.
  6. To enter the password, use the numeric keypad. Each key has a few letters and/or symbols assigned to it, that you can access by pressing the key repeatedly. For example, to enter the letter C, press the 2 key on the keypad 3 times. Here are some helpful tips:
    • Most symbols are assigned to the 1 and the 0 keys.
    • To quickly switch between upper case letters, lower case letters and numbers, press the Bookmark key.
    • To erase a character, press rewind.
    • To hear which letters are assigned to each key, when you are ready to start typing, press the sleep button to enter key describer mode. This allows you to press any key and hear what its function is. Press the sleep button again to exit key describer mode.
  7. After a pause, the player announces, “Connected to Wi-Fi” and prompts you to optionally enter a nickname for your Wi-Fi network. This is optional. To skip, press pound again.

Add your CELA Direct to Player bookshelf to your Victor Stratus 12M

Now that your player is connected to Wi-Fi, you can connect it to your CELA Direct to Player bookshelf to access your books.

  1. Press the number 7 key on the keypad repeatedly until you hear the player say, “DAISY Online: Add a DAISY Online service.”
  2. Press the pound key on the keypad to choose this option.
  3. This will bring up a list of available online library services. Press the number 8 key on the keypad repeatedly until you hear the player say, “CELA Direct to Player.” Press the pound key to choose this option.
  4. The player will prompt you to enter your 6-digit CELA account number. Enter this number using the keypad. Press the pound key to confirm.
  5. You will then be asked to enter your password using the keypad. You will be able to do this in the same way as described in step 6 of the previous section. However, this time, the keypad will also have the capability for you to enter in both letters, as well as numbers, depending on how many times you press each digit key on the keypad in quick succession. You will need to press each digit multiple times in order to enter in certain digits as numbers and not as alphabet letters.
  6. Once you have entered in your password, press the pound key, and wait until the player says, “DAISY Direct to Player on.” This will mean that your account is now set up and you can use the Stratus12 M to access your Direct to Player bookshelf.
  7. Press the * key to exit menus.

Downloading Direct to Player books to your Victor Stratus12 M

By default, once Direct to Player has been set up to work with your Victor Stratus12 M, the player will automatically download all books from your online bookshelf.

When a book has finished downloading, this will be indicated by a chime and a spoken message. You can also check the status of your downloads by pressing and holding the pound key for a few seconds. You will hear the battery status followed by the progress status of current download and the number of downloads in queue.
