Ask an Astronaut: My Guide To Life In Space
Par Tim Peake. 2017
Was it fun to do a space walk? How squashed were you in the capsule on the way back? What…
were your feelings as you looked down on Earth for the first time? Were you ever scared? Where to next--the Moon, Mars, or beyond?Based on his historic mission to the International Space Station, Ask an Astronaut is Tim Peake's guide to life in space, and his answers to the thousands of questions he has been asked since his return to Earth. With explanations ranging from the mundane--how do you wash your clothes or go to the bathroom while in orbit?--to the profound--what's the point?--all written in Tim's characteristically warm style, Tim shares his thoughts on every aspect of space exploration. From training for the mission to launch, to his historic spacewalk, to re-entry, he reveals for readers of all ages the cutting-edge science behind his groundbreaking experiments, and the wonders of daily life on board the International Space Station. The public was invited to submit questions using the hashtag #askanastronaut, and a selection are answered by Tim in the book, accompanied with illustrations, diagrams, and never-before-seen photos.

Unruly Bodies
Par Susannah B. Mintz. 2007
The first critical study of personal narrative by women with disabilities, Unruly Bodies examines how contemporary writers use life writing…
to challenge cultural stereotypes about disability, gender, embodiment, and identity. Combining the analyses of disability and feminist theories, Susannah Mintz discusses the work of eight American autobiographers: Nancy Mairs, Lucy Grealy, Georgina Kleege, Connie Panzarino, Eli Clare, Anne Finger, Denise Sherer Jacobson, and May Sarton. Mintz shows that by refusing inspirational rhetoric or triumph-over-adversity narrative patterns, these authors insist on their disabilities as a core--but not diminishing--aspect of identity. They offer candid portrayals of shame and painful medical procedures, struggles for the right to work or to parent, the inventive joys of disabled sex, the support and the hostility of family, and the losses and rewards of aging. Mintz demonstrates how these unconventional stories challenge feminist idealizations of independence and self-control and expand the parameters of what counts as a life worthy of both narration and political activism. Unruly Bodies also suggests that atypical life stories can redefine the relation between embodiment and identity generally.

Immigration and Entrepreneurship in the Americas: Drivers, Challenges and Local Economic Impact (Routledge Studies in Entrepreneurship and Small Business)
Par Andreas Walmsley, Clara Margaça, Helena Knörr. 2025
Migration in the Americas continues unabated. Seeking to improve understanding of the complexity of this phenomenon, this book presents different…
approaches that are at the root of an immigrant-entrepreneur's decision-making and the implementation of entrepreneurial activity in North and South America. The cases presented provide a knowledge base upon which policymakers, government agencies, and the like can draw, providing a basis for comparison for other countries regarding how and why immigrants decide to become entrepreneurs, the challenges they face, and the contributions they make. In this sense, the book presents an overview of immigrant entrepreneurship in the Americas. The studies presented include the cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds behind the reasons for starting a business in the host community, as well as the factors that influence the choice of business area. Furthermore, it explores how this type of entrepreneur contributes to local and sustainable and economic development and will deepen the understanding of immigrants' triggers for emigrating and for engaging in entrepreneurship in the host society. Based on the studies presented, it will offer guidelines regarding policies to support immigrant entrepreneurs, as well as to outline future research avenues. This book will be an invaluable resource to researchers and scholars in the fields of immigration, immigrant entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial culture, and economic development.
